We deal directly with you and have no obligation to any party other than you, our customer. If you are accessing our service on behalf of someone else, our obligation is still with you, the customer. We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time by amending this page. The amended terms and conditions will be effective from the date they are posted on our website.

By continuing to use our website after changes are posted you are accepting our new terms and conditions.

4. The Compare Credit Cards Service

We provide an online comparison service for financial products and services to help you find offers that are relevant and of interest to you. To provide this service, we work with: HD Decisions – an Experian business; Madison CF UK Limited, trading as 118 118 Money, and Capital One (Europe) plc who provide pre-screening and eligibility checking services, along with a panel of authorised financial services firms.

We do not charge you a fee for using our service, but we do receive a commission from our panel of financial services firms if you are issued with a financial product as a result of using our service.

Whether or not our panel of financial services firms are able to provide you with the product or service you are looking for (or any alternative product or service), is their responsibility and will depend on factors such as their assessment of your eligibility and credit worthiness by taking into account your credit history.

If your application is for a consumer credit product (such as a credit card or personal loan), you will be protected under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (as amended) (“CCA”), and where required, financial services firms on our panel are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

To find out more information about how the CCA protects the rights of consumers contact the Trading Standards Institute www.gov.uk/find-local-trading-standards-office or the Citizens Advice Bureau www.citizensadvice.org.uk

If you have consented to receive marketing communications from us, we may contact you by telephone, SMS, email and post about other products and services. (Please read our privacy policy for more information).

By using our service to apply for a financial product or service, you will be contacted by your chosen product provider by telephone, SMS, email, fax and/ post if they approve your application.

7. Credit checks and References

We will carry out a soft credit check on you when you use our website to compare financial products and services. The soft search does not affect your credit score and will only be visible to you. Carrying out a soft search in this way enables us to check your identity and eligibility.

In addition, your chosen product provider(s) will supply your personal details to credit reference agencies to do a pre-application check of your credit file. Only you will be able to see this check, so it won't impact your credit score.

Credit checks and credit reference agencies can also help prevent fraudulent applications. When you make an application, you agree to your chosen provider using your personal information to prevent fraud and to verify your identity. This data may be used by a Credit Reference Agency or Fraud Agency and these agencies may keep a record of your information.

You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide is true and accurate. Misleading information will be regarded as a breach of our terms and is likely to breach any agreement you enter with your chosen credit card provider(s). Furthermore, misleading information may also result in the instigation of criminal procedures against you.
